Flipped

          Flipped is about these two kids, Bryce and Juli, and they kind of like each other. Juli has a crush on Bryce, while Bryce is hard to admit that he likes her. The book is split between points of view, from Bryce to Juli.  In their points of view, the author explains what they see in the world and in each other. It shows them slowly bonding and becoming less of friends and more of in a relationship.

           Bryce usually is more of a person who isn't into affection, while Juli is the opposite. They are polar opposites, so they don't get along much but they end up loving each other. The book takes place in a small neighborhood (that doesn't really have a name). The other characters in the book are Bryce's Grandfather, his mom & dad and Juli's parents, along with a few minor characters that are their friends.

Mood 2

          I'm starting a new book and it's name is Every Last Word. It's by Tamara Ireland Stone, and due to this book, I think she's now my favorite author. The book is about a girl with many mental illnesses. She's in the popular crowd, though, so when she gets a new friend, she has to keep her a secret, along with her therapy sessions. She goes to a poetry read-aloud in the basement of the school and gets more involved with the people from it.
          This book makes me really interested in helping people because of the main character's therapist. The therapist is really nice, and knows exactly what to say so the girl doesn't get uncomfortable. I would like to know how to do that. I'm also interested by the book because of the illnesses the main character suffers from.
          One of her problems is she has OCD. Unlike most theories, she's not a clean freak, and she's not exactly neat. I feel like most people get that wrong and to her it's a common misconception. She doesn't mind it though. I think that if someone were to ask her about it she'd show them how messy she is to prove that not every person with OCD is clean. She's a great main character that is relatable and easy to understand, even if you don't have the illnesses she does.

Mood

The story I'm reading is called Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson and it makes me feel happy because I think it is funny and relatable. It has a lot of "teenager moments" in it that I can relate to. It is a funny book so far because of its characters and what is happening. It puts a feeling of empathy in you because of the things that happen to the characters. Like I said before, it's relatable.

Green

Green by Laura Peyton Roberts

In Green, a 12 year old girl named Lilybet Green gets kid napped by leprechauns and has to complete  three dangerous trials in order to become the keeper of gold. She wants to return home, but the leprechauns are holding her hostage. She completes two of them before one of the maids in training tells her that the other leprechauns are choosing really dangerous tasks that could get her killed.

Foreshadowing


         In the book, Rigg's father dies, leaving Rigg with a message- Go to Nox and find your sister. He eventually finds Nox, after trying to help a boy named Kyokay off of a cliff, but Kyokay ends up falling to his death. Rigg knows it isn't his fault, because there was a man that stopped him from helping the little boy. Later, it is revealed that the little boy's brother, Umbo, saw some of it and thought Rigg was trying to kill his brother. He gets to Nox, and he tells her everything that happened. Nox shows him a small bag with diamonds in it and tells him he needs to find his sister- Param- in a city named Aressa Sessamo.
           He sets off with Umbo and they walk their way to a shrine that worships The Wandering Man. On the walls of the shrine there are paintings that show a demon throwing the Wandering Man off a cliff; the same one Kyokay fell from. He thinks that he is the demon, but Umbo proves him wrong. Umbo reveals he has powers that can slow down time. They kept on walking, sharing food rations and helping each other figure out their powers. I think this is foreshadowing them becoming heroes because they have powers they use for good and they help each other out along the way. They are only young boys, but I think they could become something great.

Exposition Summary

         The exposition of my book was mostly about Rigg{The main character} and his Father. They are trappers, and they collect fur to trade and sell, so they stay in the forest a lot. In the story, Rigg is known to have a special power. This power is like a sixth sense, making him able to see the paths of anyone who has ever lived. The fresh one are green, older ones blue, and the oldest are red. He and Father are the only ones who know of his secret.
         His father is a very intelligent man, and teaches Rigg about physics, math, language, etc. Rigg and Father are always bickering over something unimportant, but they always know neither of their feelings get hurt. Since Rigg sees paths, he can help his father with where all of the animals went, and popular places for animals within the woods.

Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card

By looking at the cover of Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card, you may think it would be a book about magic due to the wispy blue smoke and dagger covered in diamonds. The cover has a reflective paper among the blue and it adds another dimension of magic to it. The tree branch silhouettes that cover some of the smoke make it look mysterious, and the white-blue letters add to it. The book itself is pretty thick, making it seem as though it has a lot of action and adventure.

In the book, after reading it for 10 minutes, it seems to be about a young boy living with his father in a small, dystopian town.
